New Jersey Theatre in Our Schools Mini-Conference

Fostering a Culture of Creativity

Saturday, March 16

Appel Farm Arts and Music Center

457 Shirely Road, Elmer, NJ 08318

The American Alliance for Theatre and Education's Theatre In Our Schools (TIOS) campaign is designed to help promote theatre for youth at all levels across America. It is a chance for us to celebrate and promote the art of theatre and to remind us that theatre is essential in people's lives.

The New Jersey TIOS Mini-Conference Committee is seeking proposals from theatre artists and theatre educators for workshops to be presented at our mini-conference on March 16th at Appel Farm.  Workshops will be scheduled in the morning and afternoon and will run for 1 hour and 30 minutes.  All workshops should relate to the theme of the mini-conference, Fostering a Culture of Creativity, and address the guiding questions:

  • How can we, as theatre educators and theatre professionals, promote creativity within the curriculum and within our schools and communities?

  • How can you foster creativity while meeting the Standards and achieving AYP?
  • What does creativity look like in college and careers and how can we best prepare our students to be productive, creative thinkers when they leave high school?
  • How do we encourage a culture of creativity within the demands of producing an artistic product?

Please submit your completed proposal, including supporting material, Friday, February 8 by 11:59PM EST.

Please note: If you don't have a second presenter, please write "None" in those sections.

If you have issues completing the form please email Alexis Truitt, AATE Operations Manager, at
