Putting the OUR in Theatre in Our Schools
Saturday, March 29, 2014
Appel Farm
457 Shirley Rd, P.O. Box 888, Elmer, NJ 08318

The American Alliance for Theatre and Education's Theatre In Our Schools (TIOS) campaign is designed to help promote theatre for youth at all levels across America. It is a chance for us to celebrate and promote the art of theatre and to remind us that theatre is essential in people's lives.

The NJ TIOS is seeking proposals from theatre artists and theatre educators for workshops to be presented at the mini-conference on March 29th at Appel Farm. Workshops will be scheduled in the morning and afternoon and will run for 1 hour and 15 minutes. All workshops should relate to the theme of the mini-conference, Putting the OUR in Theatre in Our Schools, and address the guiding questions:

  • In this time of Common Core and new National Standards for Theatre, how can we work to retain and/or get control over our classrooms/theatre content, making it OURS and thus reflective of OUR students’/participants’ needs?
  • How do we negotiate the needs of our diverse community/school, particularly when those needs conflict?

Please submit your completed proposal, including supporting material, by the midnight on January 12th. Presenters will be notified by the end of January.

Please note: If you don't have a second presenter, please write "None" in those sections.
