Stone Ridge School
Bethesda, MD

Cost: Student: $15, AATE Members: $40, Non-members: $50

We have seen the positive effects of theatre in our schools, on reading comprehension, peer mediation, engagement in learning activities. We know of theatre's connective and empathetic power - let's use it to bridge economic, racial and social chasms.Theatre has been at the heart of culture and community for thousands of years. Throughout the country, each year, Teaching Artists and Educators gather in order to learn more about Theatre as a teaching technique in the regular education classroom. In addition to Arts Integration, it is also important to provide young people with authentic theatre experiences to enrich their world view, empathy, creativity, and imagination. The 2016 Theatre in Our Schools Month Event for the DC Region will focus on reaching an audience beyond the theatre and the classroom - pun intended. The theme this year is Theatre for Social Justice and Community Building. This conference will offer a variety of workshops and presentations on this subject by some of the areas leading experts in this field. In addition to broadening your horizons, networking and opportunities for reflection will be available.

If you are interested in presenting, please submit your proposal HERE.
