The Theatre for Young Audiences Symposium is a three day professional development event, being co-presented by The New Victory Theater and AATE. The event will occur January 9-11, 2015 held at the New Victory Theater in New York City. Join The New Victory Theater and AATE for a 3-day hands-on symposium that will explore the creation of new theater for kids and family audiences. Through work-in-progress performances, hands-on workshops, panel discussions and breakout dialogues, participants will investigate new work development in TYA (Theater for Young Audiences) from the perspective of the artist, the educator and the theatrical organization. Working with artists from the The New Victory LabWorks Program, an artist residency initiative that supports the development of original high-quality work for kids and families, participants will gain insight into how new theater for kids and families is currently developed and play a role in imagining the future of the field, as well as gain skills and ideas for fostering and supporting newwork in their own community.
