AATE Certificate for Teaching Artists

Empowering Teaching Artists Through Professional Learning

The AATE Teaching Artist Certificate, offered by the American Alliance for Theatre & Education, is a two-year professional development program designed to recognize teaching artists who engage with AATE’s educational opportunities. Participants earn a Certificate of Study by completing 24 hours of approved professional learning and a final reflection project.

How to Earn Your Certificate

  1. Apply: Submit your application by September 1, 2025 to begin earning hours.

  2. Attend Sessions: Complete 24 hours of professional learning, including at least two core sessions.

  3. Submit Final Assignment: Share how you’ve applied your learning through a written, video, or visual reflection, due by May 1, 2027.

Optional Graduate Credit
Participants may apply their completed hours toward graduate credit through Trinity Washington University. Graduate credit can be used towards recertification points and salary increments, but not for degree purposes.
